    • – Confirmed, found signs of moisture @ floorboard and no heat @ time of test drive. – Performed pinpoint testing on HVAC system components and found lack of flow through heater core evident by temperature difference between inlet and outlet hoses going to heater core from engine bay (Inlet @ 175 Degrees F, Outlet @ 130 Degrees F) – Attempted pressurized backflush of heater core, no difference in flow rate. – During testing technician noticed thermostat slow to open causing longer then expected amount of time to reach operating temperature from cold start. – Blend door actuator testing okay but appears original. – Found moisture intrusion present past seal @ heater box to firewall. – Found debris built up under wiper cowl causing standing water at / around fresh air inlet to heater box likely leading to water intrusion. – Recommend remove heater box to replace heater core, replace evaporator core while out and accessible, replace blend door actuator due to age, clean debris from fresh air inlet, clean/reseal heater box, replace thermostat, flush engine coolant, recharge a/c system, then retest heater performance, A/C performance, and retest for water intrusion to interior.

    • Inspect for external oil leaks, add dye to oil and inspect with black light. – Confirmed, found engine oil leaking from multiple locations. – Largest oil leak present from timing cover and from vacuum pump. – Secondary smaller leak present from passenger side valve cover gasket. – Advise customer labor to reseal timing cover includes time to replace timing chain components but does NOT include time to replace variable valve timing components. This is a pertinent detail on this vehicle due to the fact that the 3.5L Ford engine is known for timing chain and/or variable valve timing failure. – Tear down / removal process will require removal of all accessory drive belts, thermostat, and water pump, recommend replace components while out for service. – Recommend remove timing cover, valve covers, and vacuum pump, replace timing components and/or variable valve timing components, replace timing cover seals, valve cover gaskets, and vacuum pump gasket, re-assemble, flush engine coolant and perform LOF service, then retest for leaks from engine.
